#PUCH MOPED MODELS HOW TO#
As the bike has never been running and is missing parts, we are not going to warranty it but for someone who knows how to build and tune Puchs, the bike should be awesome.Īll vehicles purchased online will be held at our flagship store on Michigan Avenue.

I think it’s time for someone new to own this bike and get it back on the road.

Much like my other personal bikes being sold as is, I was working on this project when the moped shop’s busy season hit and the bike was never finished … then like many of my mopeds, I put it on display in the front window for a few seasons, and then moved it to storage for a few years. WOW! To the best of my recollection the bottom end was running well with the Puch 65cc 43.5mm hero massive port kit, new old stock Hero 65cc head, Ducati CDI ignition, MLM Puch Hero pipe, MLM Puch Hero intake, and Mikuni 18mm carb but the bearings were loud and the motor is probably due for a rebuild. Basically all of the standard upgrades we do when building motors today, BUT originally made by Puch. This is a superior motor with huge ports, a stock needle bearing crankshaft, reverse cut gears, lightened trans parts, the best 3 shoe clutch puch ever made, and a Ducati CDI. I wanted an interesting motor for this build so I installed this Puch Korado motor that I had on another bike years ago. I installed new old stock Puch wheels with brand new tires (still new and never taken down the road). It also has a Puch tank decal that I have never seen AND the major thing making me think that this bike is a “one off” is that the original VIN is 1234… Seems fishy.Īs a connoisseur of what we call “super rare variations on super common mopeds” when this interesting but disassembled original bike came up for sale I had to get it! I bought it online and had it brought to me from out of state.
#PUCH MOPED MODELS FREE#
It, like both the Free Spirit “Deluxe” and Murray 8320, is silver BUT the forks and original fender are the style only ever sold in red on the Free Spirit “Standard.” I have never seen any other moped configured this way. The frame says Murray 1980 BUT it has the Free Spirit style seat, rack, and swing arm. The best that I can tell, this moped is some kind of prototype during the transition. THEN from 1980-1982 Sears switched to selling a very similar moped manufactured by Murray Ohio Manufacturing Company from 1979 to 1982 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. In 1978-80 Sears sold three moped models, all made by Kromag in 1978. Plus, they can get up to 100 mpg, and their low weight and compact size make them easy to store and maneuver. In the 1970’s, the famous American department store sold a line of bicycles and wheeled goods called “Free Spirit”. But that’s still faster than even some e-bikes, at a much cheaper price. True, they’re limited to about 30 mph, which means they can’t go on highways. Secondly, as the Wall Street Journal explains, mopeds are cheap and easy to run.
